What are the ingredients of a successful school system? Getting the recipe right is important. In presenting his education agenda, President Barack Obama has said, “The future belongs to the nation that best educates its people.” For now, educators suggest, that distinction lies half a world away from Washington, D.C.—in Singapore.

Kathryn Baron Describes Challenges Facing Undocumented College Applicants

Although California lets some undocumented students pay in-state tuition at public colleges, other laws prohibit those students from receiving any governmental financial aid. The girls have been applying for every private scholarship they can find. Cindy has raised about $45,000 dollars, enough for about a year-and-a-half at UCLA.

With that leap of faith, Teach for America was born.”

For this mission, Massimino has packed a small cash of objects that holds deep meaning for him. He has a family photo, school mementos and this Catholic man who grew up on long island is carrying a Mezuzah; a symbol of the Jewish faith…. Massimino is carrying this Mezuzah in honor of Astronaut Ilan Ramon, whose parents were Holocaust survivors.
